Complete Vacation Package Details:
Your 7-day Charleston experience begins with checking into the
newly restored King Charles Inn, located on Meeting Street in the
heart of Charleston's historic district. Eighteenth Century charm
abounds in each beautifully appointed room. Period reproductions
include armoires and poster beds. The King Charles is a perfect
blend of Southern ambiance and the most modern amenities
expected for fine lodging. After checking in you'll have some free
time before dinner so enjoy a walk through the Historic Market
area or visit Waterfront Park to get into that Charleston spirit.
After dinner, step into Charleston's haunted past with Charleston's
World Famous Ghost & Voodoo Walking Tours. Charleston's
legendary hauntings have been documented by the thousands and
now you will experience first hand what so many already know-
the dead do not rest!
Day 2 Although Charleston is famous for its past, your morning
begins at the best of Charleston present with a visit to the brand
new South Carolina Aquarium. The Aquarium extends out over
historic Charleston Harbor and features over 10,000 creatures, 60
exhibits, and panoramic views that include Fort Sumter After a
leisurely lunch, step into the past that Charleston is famous for
with a complete tour of historic Charleston provided by Taylored
Tours of Charleston. This tour includes over 110 points of interest
including the major historic districts, the Dock Street Theatre,
Rainbow Row, and Catfish Row (from Porgy and Bess).
Day 3 begins in the morning at America's first museum! Celebrate
history and enjoy the eclectic array of Charleston's most
cherished treasures at the Charleston Museum. Since 1773, the
Charleston Museum has collected and preserved artifacts
pertaining to the cultural and natural history of the Lowcountry.
The day continues with a glance into the past as you embark on a
tour of an unaltered ante-bellum mansion. Step across the street
and into the lifestyle of a wealthy, rice-planting family with a tour
of the Joseph Manigault House. As seen on America's Castles, the
Joseph Manigault House, built in 1803, is one of the country's
premier examples of neo-classical architecture. The interior
reflects an outstanding collection of American, English and French
furnishings of the period. A charming Gate Temple is the focus of
the period garden. This tour will leave you speechless as you
celebrate the wonders of our earliest craftsmanship.
Day 4 Your morning begins with a group carriage tour provided by
Olde Towne Carriage Company. Each horse drawn carriage leaves
from the historic Market area to take you on a narrated tour
through the charming streets of one of America's most important
cities. Next, hop aboard SpiritLine Water Tours for a relaxing non-stop
tour of Charleston Harbor, a must for a real Charleston experience.
After your water tour, you can spend your free time
exploring historic Charleston on your own terms.
Day 5 begins in the morning with a visit to America's most
photographed plantation, Boone Hall. When you spend some
quiet time at Boone Hall Plantation and stroll the Avenue of Oaks,
you walk into history. Visitors come here to catch a glimpse of a
way of life that is now only a memory of a time when the Old South
lived by agriculture alone. A time when the great plantations were
the backbone of the agrarian economy.
After you will visit the place where arguably the most important
event in American history began, Fort Sumter!
The SpiritLine ferry will
take you to Fort Sumter located on a man-made island at the
entrance of Charleston Harbor. Feel part of history as you tour
the excellent museum, view the priceless exhibits, and stand on
the hallowed ground where the United States was changed
forever.
Begin day 6 at scenic Ashley River's Oldest Plantation, Magnolia
Plantation and Gardens. Described by famous travel writer Charles
Kuralt as "my greatest Charleston pleasure", Magnolia Plantation
and Gardens represents aristocracy no matter which 'side of the
pond' you favor! Just 10 miles from downtown Charleston, your
morning includes a tour of the Drayton Family's home for nine
generations, admission to the world famous 50-acre Historic
Garden, your choice of a nature train or nature boat ride around
the property, and much more!
Day 7 In the morning of your final day enjoy breakfast at King
Charles Inn before your safe trip home.
