Day 1 begins with checking into the luxurious Harborview Inn,
Charleston's newest four-diamond Inn, overlooking Waterfront
Park and the historic Charleston Harbor. Soon after checking in,
the royal treatment begins. A private carriage tour, provided by
Olde Town Carriage Company, will pick you up in front of your
hotel. The Olde Town Carriage Company offers an unforgettable
experience as you embrace the historic streets of Charleston.
Dinner at Mistral restaurant will satisfy everyone.
On day 2 your journey into Charleston's historic past begins. The
day starts with a tour of one of the great landmarks of American
history, Magnolia Plantation. Described by famous travel writer
Charles Kuralt as "my greatest Charleston pleasure", Magnolia
Plantation and Gardens represents aristocracy no matter which
'side of the pond' you favor! Just 10 miles from downtown
Charleston, your morning at Magnolia Plantation includes a tour of
the Drayton Family's home, admission to the world famous 50 acre
Historic Garden, choices of a nature train or nature boat ride
around the property, and much more!
After a relaxing low country lunch at Joseph's, you will visit the
place where arguably the most important event in American history
began, Fort Sumter! From Liberty Square at the Aquarium, conveniently
located near the Harbourview Inn, the ferry will take you out to Fort
Sumter, located on a man-made island at the entrance of Charleston
Harbor. Feel a part of history as you tour this excellent museum, view
the priceless exhibits, and stand on the hallowed ground where the
United States was changed forever. Relax at dinner that evening,
provided by Meritage.
Your final day combines Charleston Past and Present by spending
the morning enjoying the best of Charleston's present at the brand
new South Carolina Aquarium. The Aquarium extends out over
historic Charleston Harbor and features over 10,000 creatures, 60
exhibits, and panoramic views that include Fort Sumter. Dolphins
swimming in Charleston Harbor can often be seen from the aquarium's
observation deck! After your tour, keep the Charleston spirit going
with a leisurely low country lunch at Baker's Café.
