Complete Vacation Package Details:
Your 2 or 3 night trip into Classic Charleston begins with checking into
the newly restored King Charles Inn, located on Meeting Street in
the heart of Charleston's historic district. The Inn itself (circa 1830),
is part of Charleston's history and has provided respite to many visitors
throughout the years, including Edgar Allen Poe. In addition, The King
Charles Inn was recently featured in Southern Living Magazine.
After checking in, you and your guests will be transported to a simpler,
more luxurious lifestyle rivaling the old Antebellum South. A group
Carriage tour awaits you only minutes from the hotel. The Olde Town
Carriage Company, with the finest carriages in Charleston, will unveil
the wealth and majesty of Old Charleston. To keep you in the spirit,
you and your guests will enjoy dinner at High Cotton.
Day 2 of our Classic Charleston tour keeps the 19th Century alive!
Beginning at 9:00am with a Civil War walking tour conducted by
Jack Thompson, author of the critically acclaimed "Charleston at
War: The Photographic Record." Enjoy exciting and humorous
accounts and colorful anecdotes as you learn about the lives of real
people who were a part of this time in history. After lunch at O'Reily's,
climb aboard SpiritLine Tours, for a relaxing, non-stop tour of
Charleston Harbor. A must for a real Charleston experience! The
rest of the afternoon leaves you free to experience Charleston on your
own terms. Slightly North of Broad provides dinner that evening.
Your 3rd and final day begins in the morning at America's first
museum! Celebrate history and enjoy the eclectic array of
Charleston's most cherished treasures at the Charleston Museum. Since
1773, the Charleston Museum has collected and preserved
artifacts pertaining to the cultural and natural history of the
Low country. After touring the museum, step across the street and
into the lifestyle of a wealthy, rice-planting family with a tour of
The Joseph Manigault House. As seen on America's Castles, the
Joseph Manigault House, built in 1803, is one of the country's
premier examples of neo-classical architecture. The interior reflects
an outstanding collection of American, English, and French
furnishings from the period. A charming Gate Temple is the focus of
the period garden.
